DokiWear vs Smudgegaurd (A drawing glove review )

Disclaimer: These are my personal views. after having tried these products out. The purpose of this is no more or less than to possibly throw some new customers to the awesome makers of these things. I am not a research engine. Any questions about the -actual- product that I haven't covered you can find on your own at the following links: Smudgegaurd - http://www.smudgeguard.com/ Dokiwear - http://www.dokiwear.com/ Handeze - http://www.handezegloves.com/ What is the purpose of a drawing glove? Especially for digital work? All gloves mentioned in this review (except the handeze. It's in its own little category) greatly reduce friction between your hand and the surface. Allowing for smooth motions. I attribute a lot of the improvement in my lines to the drawing gloves. before i'd have to deal with hell 80% of the time. In the summer my hand would sweat and stick to the tablet (which makes for shit lines). In the winter my hand would get extremely cold against the cold surface of the tablet. (which also makes for shit lines lol) I'd only advise the smudgegaurd for traditional work as well, which i'll cover below. ---- The Smudgegaurd: (16.99 ) This is the glove you may have seen most often. It's the first one I bought. And the glove i've mentioned to a number of friends who have gotten one as well(If you're one of those friends I better see you comment on this like 'FUCK YEAH SMUDGEGAURDS" ) First of all. It's stylish as fuck. Let's be serious. But really though, lol. The material feels awesome. My hand -never- sweats. The sizing it pretty great. And because of how it's designed, even if i grow my nails out, it still fits comfortably which is a huge bonus for me. I love that it reaches to your wrist (which dokiwear doesn't). It is SO durable. I have two of these but one i've had for nearly 2+ years and it is still the one i use most. ( i just have two cause i misplace it sometimes and dont want to look for it and i literally cannot draw without a glove now. The difference in feel is crazy ) Smudgegaurd is also rad for traditional for me. It eases friction between the paper. Its easy to clean led off of. And it does SLGIHTLY help with smudging. I'm a right handed person. but for all you lefties or ambidextrous people you can put it on either hand. IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!: Please get the one with both the ring finger and pinky finger covered. It's a worthwhile spend for a few extra bucks. They come in a nice array of colors but of course I went #allblackeverything. The Dokiwear: ($19.99) I only found out about this a few months ago. It def took some getting used to. But I have to say right off the bat. Cintiq users? THIS IS YOUR GLOVE! (as someone who has owned a cintiq myself). The dokiwear has a special microfiber material on the part of the glove that makes contact with the surface which will -CLEAN YOUR SCREEN- as you go. Let me be honest here...as a glasses wearer it's super fucking awesome to have a cleaning cloth...built into your glove that you're less likely to lose and always have.....'on hand'. (/bricked) Now...while i find this thing stylishly futuristic looking as hell. Other people disagree. /shrug. The fit is....less forgiving. It is not a glove for either hand. You must order specifically for which hand you want. Sizing is right...however...it fits better when my nails are short or not there. It also lacks the wrist band that smudgard has which I like because sometimes my wrist comes in contact with the tablet too. It also gives off the idea that it will 'compress' your hand. which was a HUGE selling point for me....but really it doesnt. However thats where the Handeze comes in. (which i'm about to get to). There is back and forth on whether the glove helps with palm rejection on phones and mobile tablets. I have not tested this. Before I continue I need to say this: I will delete/ignore comments of 'I could just cut 2 fingers off a glove'. These gloves are made of really rad materials, well put together, and aren't that expensive to be lasting TWO YEARS or more. So just keep that type of crap to yourself. have fun trying to draw with thick gloves with the fingers cut off (it sucks. I tried it to prove a point. ) The handeze: (10.95 OR 24.95 ) IS NOT A DRAWING GLOVE. This is a compression glove to help ease hand pain. While I believe my hands are too far gone for me to tell if it does actually help or not...it does feel good. And can be worn under both aforementioned gloves. It is a particularly nice combo under the otherwise loose-in-ares, Dokiwear. And its comfortable enough that i wear it all the time, because why not? Couldn't hurt. The price difference is because if you get them cut off at the knuckles or get them 3/4 fingers. I regret not getting the 3/4th finger one. I'd probably like that one more since most of my pain lies in my actual fingers. >.> it also looks neat. Final words-- I would recommend both. But i'd still sooner recommend the smudgegaurd to people first. It's cheaper, an easier fit, and since it doesnt have microfiber on it (that would pick up led/graphite) it is good for traditional too. It seems overall just more versatile. However i'm not saying I dont dig the dokiwear. I'll be honest I probably use them both equally lately. However I will say I wouldn't use the dokiwear without the handeze. ---- Happy glove hunting. Happy drawing. If you decide to buy either lemme know. If you have either and you see me at a con. You better have it on you so we can 'drawing glove fist bump'.
